Abstract

The system has a special container with a collector facility so that waste water from the hand-wash basin can be used as flushing water for the toilet. This results in no colour variation of drinking water, no formation of froth, no visible particles and no smell, and is available in sufficient quantity. Part of all the waste water is cleansed by a purifying system and jettisoned from the aircraft. USE - Aircraft cabin toilet facility.

Description

The economic viability of commercial aircraft becomes main Lich determined by the share of the payload in the total weight. Therefore one strives for the empty weight and the weight of Fuel, supplies and supplies too small hold. One way to do this is to measure the amount of drinking water wrestle for the supply of passengers during the Flight must be carried.

Für folgende Zwecke wird Wasser benötigt:Since the water requirement on board is essentially determined by the number the passenger and the flight duration is determined, the pre advice can only be reduced if the water is used several times. Water is required for the following purposes:

  • - Versorgung der Bordküchen,- supply of the galley,
  • - Spülung der Toilettenbecken,- flushing the toilet bowl,
  • - Händewaschen in den Toiletten.- Washing hands in the toilets.

The resulting wastewater from the galley and the hand-washing basin are routed directly overboard through drain masts in the now common water system; the wastewater from the toilets is collected in a holding tank and disposed of on the ground during stays ( Fig. 1).

The water supply can only be reduced if the water can be used several times. This requires treatment of the wastewater. Although methods for this are known (space travel), treatment of waste water into drinking water in commercial aircraft is out of the question for psychological and technical reasons. Therefore, a practically feasible solution is to first use fresh water to wash hands and then to flush the basins in the toilets ( Fig. 2). This makes it possible to reduce the take-off weight of a commercial aircraft by the amount of toilet flushing water (approx. 300 kp for a long-haul aircraft).

In contrast to the usual way of working today, with the proposed system the entire amount of water required for washing hands goes into the holding tank ( Fig. 3) and has to be transported to the destination. This transport performance can be eliminated if the waste water from the hand wash basin and the galley is removed from the waste-holding tank during the flight and continuously discharged to the outside via a drain mast (reduction in the average transport weight). To simplify the system, the galley kitchens are also connected to the toilet sewage system.
