Bekannt ist die Zerlegung von Schießwolle in seine Bestandteile Trinitrotoluol und Hexanitrodiphenylamin, die beide in reiner Form gewonnen werden können. Während nun das Trinitrotoluol als solches in der Sprengstoffindustrie wieder Verwendung findet, ist diejenige des Hexanitrodiphenylamins wegen seiner unangenehmen Eigenschaften auf diese bisher beschränkt gebliehen. Es dürften daher neue Anwendungsgebiete des Hexanitrodiphenylamins, da noch beträchtliche Vorräte hiervon, aus dem Kriege herrührend, vorhanden sind, ein erhebliches Interesse haben. Bekannt war seine Anwendung als Farbstoff, doch konnte sich dieser nicht einbürgern wegen seiner unangenehmen Eigenschaften der Ekzembildung bei manchen Menschen. Diese giftigen Eigenschaften des Hexanitrodiphenylamins nun sind Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung zur Vertilgung von Schädlingen aller Art. Von Vorteil ist hierbei die Unlöslichkeit des Hexanitrodiphenylamins in den meisten Lösungsmitteln und die genügende Wasserlöslichkeit seiner Verbindungen mit Basen. Wenn man Hexanitrodiphenylamin mit aromatischen Basen verbindet, wie Anilin usw., so zerfallen diese ganz analog den im Patent 219893 beschriebenen Verbindungen, so daß diese labilen Salze hierdurch eine stark antiseptische und fungizide Wirkung ausüben. Verwendung kann das Hexanitrodiphenylamin also überall dort finden, wo bisher Pikrinsäure und Dinitrophenol als Bekämpfungsmittel gegen Schädlinge aller Art angewandt wurden. Die explosiven Eigenschaften des Hexanitrodiphenylamins können in bekannter Weise vollkommen herabgemindert werden.
