Es dienten dazu sowohl einzelne Plättchen, die mit ihren Spitzen in rlen Absatz
eingetrieben wurden, als auch geschlossene, die Absatzfläche einrahmende Metallstücke
in Hufeisenform. Erstere hatten den Nachteil, daß durch die Stifte oder Zinken der
Plättchen der Absatz stark angegriffen wurde, während bei den Hufeisen nach einiger
Abnutzung ein Lockern eintrat, das Klappern der Eisen bei dem Gehen zur Folge hatte
und sich schwer beseitigen ließ, weil die neuen Stifte in den alten Löchern schlecht
hafteten, wenn nicht gar die alten, steckengebliebenen Stifte dem Eintreiben der

vorgesehene Löcher h oder auf sonstige Weise siebartig durchlöchert. Diese Durchlöcherung
bietet den Vorteil, daß an beliebiger Stelle Nägel den Mittelteil durchdringen können,
da die zwischen den Löchern verbleibenden Rippen teils selbst ausweichen, teils
eine kleine Ablenkung des Nagels herbeiführen. Die Laufflächen e, f l und
f 2 können beliebige der Trittfläche a
entsprechende Form, Zahl und
Größe haben. Die Laufflächen haben zweckmäßig Auskantungen i, k mit schwacher Kantenabrundung
d,
um ein scharfes Eindrücken zu vermeiden. Der Absatzfleck a kann
mit schwach vertieften Flächen m, n1, n2 versehen sein (Abb. i), in die sich
die Laufflächen> e, f1, f2 legen. Bei Verwendung von Stahlblech für die Schoner
können die Laufflächen auch federnd sein. Die Vertiefung der Flächen eh, n1, n2
ist dann nach dem .Absatzrande zu zunehmend. Abb. q. zeigt eine Seitenansicht des
auf dem Absatze befestigten Schoners. Der Mittelteil g des Schoners kann auch geteilt
sein, so daß jede Lauffläche e, f1, f2 einen Teil von g besitzt. .Die einzelnen
Teile lassen sich bei dem Befestigen des Schoners dann zu einem ganzen Schoner zusammensetzen.

Die Befestigung erfolgt so, daß zunächst der Trittfleck a mit Gummi,
Nägeln oder einem Klebemittel, je nach dem Material, befestigt wird. Dann wird der
Schoner auf den Trittfleck gelegt, wobei der Mittelteil g in die Aussparung b kommt,
so daß der Schoner gut anliegt. Durch Einlegen und Festnageln des Füllstückes c
wird dann der Schoner befestigt. Die Laufflächen erfahren also keine für den Absatz
schädliche Randnagelung, und die Trittfläche selbst hat ein gutes Aussehen. Durch
Anwendung des Schoners bei Gummiabsätzen wird ein zu rasches Abtreten und Abspalten
ihrer Randflächen vermieden. Die Aufkantungen i, k können an der Absatzseitenfläche
durch Nägel oder zinken befestigt sein. Nach Abnutzung des Schoners kann seine Auswechselung
