Description

Process for tanning animal hides. In the main patent 38868o is shown been that the products of the action of oxyaldeliyden or oxyketones on polyvalent aromatic oxy compounds are excellent for tanning animal hides suitable.

It has now been found that the treatment of sulfite philosene liquor or from other conversion products of wood, the oxyaldehydes or oxyketones included, e.g. B. desugarized sulphite waste liquor or saccharification products of wood finitely monovalent aromatic oxy compounds containing no sulfo groups Products formed under mild conditions in an alkaline solution are advantageous can be used for tanning.

A process for the production of tanning condensation products from sulfite cellulose waste liquor and monovalent aromatic oxy compounds has already become known from British patent specification 2._j.196 from igi4. These products are obtained by the action of phenol, cresols or tar oils containing plienol on crude, concentrated, concentrated sulphite waste liquor and, in contrast to the tanning agents prepared in alkaline solution according to the present process, produce a leather with a significantly darker color. Example: 100 parts by weight of deca extract (purified and concentrated cellulose extract) are heated in a salt bath with 70 parts by weight of phenol and 252 parts by volume of sodium hydroxide solution (100 g NaOH in 1 liter). The solution, which has little sediment, is acidified after cooling until it has a weak Congo-acidic reaction. The liquid can be used for tanning after suitable dilution. Instead of phenol itself, you can also use other phenols, e.g. B. cresols, instead of caustic soda, other basic condensing agents, e.g. B. Kalis, use. One can also start from raw Sufita liquor or other L "m" treatment products of the wood.
