Abstract

The AC voltage produced by a dynamo is rectified (D1) and reduced to 5.1 V by a combination of a resistor (R1) and a Zener diode (D2). The capacitor (C1) is charged to provide a source of energy for the LED (D3) which remains lit as long as the voltage on the capacitor persists above about 2 V. The capacitance suffices to maintain the glow for an interval after the dynamo has ceased to provide current e.g. at a standstill. ADVANTAGE - Circuit requires little or no maintenance, and safety of vehicle in traffic is enhanced.

Description

Gattunggenus

The invention relates to a device for lighting of vehicles according to the preamble of the claim.

Angaben zur GattungInformation on the genus

The device described is intended to enable a Set up vehicle lighting with automatic parking lights which z. B. in the realization as a bicycle Parking light for the user if the dynamo fails (stop at traffic lights) provides another light source. This light source should not, as has been customary up to now Incandescent lamps, but with LEDs. The power supply is said to consist of a highly capacitive Storage capacitor done by the dynamo is supplied with power via a charging circuit.

Stand der TechnikState of the art

It is known that there are already fully developed lighting concepts there (using incandescent lamps). It is also known that LEDs in Connection with accumulators as economical light sources can be used.

Kritikcriticism

However, in no way has a capacitor been considered longer-term charge storage used because it is technical was not possible capacitors with large capacities to produce in a small design. So far, too Vehicle lights due to the poor luminosity no LEDs are used.

Aufgabetask

The invention is based, the combination of LEDs as light sources and capacitors as Energy storage in use as vehicle lighting too realize.

This problem is solved according to the invention by the following Circuit concept solved.

SchaltungsbeschreibungCircuit description

The AC voltage coming from the bicycle dynamo is rectified via D 1 and limited to 5.1 V with R 1 and D 2 . C 1 charges via R 1 . As soon as it has reached a voltage of approx. 2 V, the LED starts to light up. Since Id is much smaller than Iges, the capacitor continues to charge until the final charge voltage of 5.1 V is reached. If the dynamo no longer delivers power (e.g. when the bicycle is stationary), the capacitor is discharged via the LED. The LED stays on.

Erzielbare VorteileAchievable advantages

In particular, consist of the small dimensions the components of the charge storage in the headlight housing can be integrated directly. This eliminates any additional cabling effort.

Furthermore, LEDs are practically wear-free, are highly efficient and produce light in one def. Wavelength. Due to the strong degree of bundling they can still be seen from a great distance. Capacitors have (in this application) compared to the Batteries have the advantage of lower weight, more unlimited Deep discharge safety, long service life and better environmental compatibility.

Due to the circuit's low susceptibility to malfunction Maintenance work, the traffic safety of the vehicle elevated.

Funktionsweise der SchaltungHow the circuit works

C 1 charges via R 1 . As soon as it has reached a voltage of approx. 2 V, the LED begins to light up. Since Id is much smaller than Iges, the capacitor continues to charge until the final charge voltage of 5.1 V is reached. If the dynamo no longer delivers power (e.g. at a traffic light), the capacitor discharges via the LED. The LED stays on.

This circuit offers several advantages:
LEDs are practically wear-free, have a high efficiency and generate light in a def. Wavelength (no filter measures). Due to the strong degree of bundling, they are still easily recognizable from a distance. Compared to batteries (NC lead-acid batteries), capacitors have the advantage of practically maintenance-free operation, low weight, unlimited protection against deep discharge and a long service life.
