The knife is cleaned in the following way. The knife to be cleaned is first brought between the jaws c and c ^{1 of} the cleaning device A with the blade m . The jaw c yields a little in the direction of the arrow ο, but is moved back again by the spring d in the direction of the arrow η and thus presses the jaw c against the knife with an appropriate force. The cleaning is then effected by moving the knife back and forth in the direction of the arrow q, p (Fig. 2). When the knife is cleaned, it is passed from one hand to the other, while the first hand takes another uncleaned knife. The latter is now introduced into the cleaning device in the same way as before, while the already cleaned knife is brought into the polishing device B by the other hand. Both hands are then put together with the balls of the feet and the knives are moved back and forth, the uncleaned knife being cleaned and the cleaned knife polished. If the knives are blunt, they can be sharpened on the sharpening stone.

Patent claim: Knife cleaning device in which the cleaning, polishing or the like is carried out by moving the knife back and forth between cleaning jaws, characterized in that the cleaning device consists of pairs of cleaning jaws (A, B) accommodated in a common frame, which are advantageously moved so close to one another, that the balls of the hands touch each other when cleaning and polishing the knives.
