Description
Durch Glimmentladung zu betreibende elektrische Entladungsröhre. Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine starre, beim Gebrauch -verhältnismäßig kalt bleibende Kathode für Entladungsröhren mit Glimmentladung, welche gestattet, diese Röhren für alle in Betracht kommenden Anwendungsgebiete, z. B. für Beleuchtung, für die drahtlöse Telegraphie und zum Gleichrichten und Umformen von Wechselströmen mit weit geringerer Entladungsspannung zu betreiben als die bekannten Röhren mit starrer und dabei kalter oder nur wenig durch den Durchgang des' Stromes erwärmter Kathode. Die neue Kathode ist der Wehneltkathode sehr ähnlich, also eine Metallkathode, welche Substanzen zur Beförderung der Elektronenemission, entweder auf ihrer Oberfläche aufgebracht oder im Innern verteilt, enthält mit dem Unterschied gegenüber der Wehneltkathod'e, daß sie bei Gebrauch kalt bleibt oder sich nur verhältnismäßig wenig erwärmt. Beispielsweise kann als Kathode für Glimmliehtlampen ein Platindrahtnetz verwendet werden, das in der für Wehneltkathod'en bekannten Weise mit Kalziumoxyd oder ähnlichen Substanzen überzogen ist. Besonders günstig erwiesen sich Netze aus Wolframdraht,.welcher in gleichfalls bei Glühkathoden bekannter Weise bis zu mehreren Prozenten Thoriumoxyd enthält.
