Description

Kalksalpeter in Lösung bleiben.Process for the preparation of potassium nitrate and calcium chloride Potassium chloride and calcium nitrate. The manufacture of potash nitrate through implementation of solutions of magnesium or. Calcium nitrate with potassium chloride in the cold or warmth is found to be imperfect. It just settles in Part of the potassium nitrate, while significant amounts of potassium chloride and magnesia or calcium nitrate remain in solution.

In order to completely extract the valuable raw materials, namely the nitrates, from this solution, the solution is evaporated. If magnesium nitrate is used, the magnesium chloride can be excreted as artificial carnallite. When using calcium nitrate, however, you get a solution of calcium chloride that does not form a double salt. In order to separate the potassium chloride and calcium nitrate not converted into potassium nitrate from the solution of calcium chloride, the solution is evaporated to a content of about 32 to 35 percent calcium chloride. After cooling, part of the potassium nitrate still in solution crystallizes out with a mixture of potassium chloride and calcium nitrate. This salt mixture can be separated by recrystallization if it is not readily used as a fertilizer in agriculture. After this crystallization at normal temperature, some calcium nitrate still remains in the solution, most of which can be obtained by freezing to about 10 ° below zero. A calcium chloride solution is then obtained with little loss of calcium nitrate.

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the preparation of potassium nitrate and calcium chloride from potassium chloride and calcium nitrate, characterized in that the calcium chloride solution formed is cooled to a low temperature of about 10 ° below zero in order to almost completely recover the calcium nitrate which has remained in solution.
