Description

Antikathode für Röntgenröhren. Zusatz ziun Patent 38goz6. Anti-cathode for X-ray tubes. Addition to patent 38goz6. Patent 389016 provides for the production of the anticathode from fused quartz (quartz glass), either per se or with a coating of difficult-to-melt metals. The noble metals indicated in the above patent: platinum, iridium, etc. are essentially suitable for this purpose. Given the extraordinarily high prices of these precious metals, it is in the economic interest to save even these small quantities. This object is achieved by the invention, but it also represents an extraordinary advance technically. It has been shown, surprisingly, that a combination of quartz glass with metals in a certain form is particularly suitable for the production of anticathode mirrors. First and foremost, the metals with the highest atomic weight are chosen: uranium (atomic weight 238, S g), tungsten (atomic weight 184 g), thorium (atomic, s, ewicht 232.5 g) etc. These metals are most useful in Form of the oxides melted together with quartz glass and thereby give mirrors made of a substance with significantly increased molecular weight, on the other hand they have the excellent properties of quartz glass. For this reason, these mirrors can generally already be used advantageously without a metal coating, and mirrors can therefore be used which cost only a fraction of the precious metal mirror and which have all their good properties to the fullest, but even exceed them in many points. If you combine these mirrors with a noble metal coating, for example in the form of the well-known shiny platinum or the like, you get mirrors that exceed all previous anti-cathode mirrors in their effectiveness and also contain only relatively small amounts (fractions of a gram) of platinum, etc. .
