Description
Process for the production of fertilizers. It is already known that raw phosphates can be broken down by the action of aqueous hydrochloric acid with the addition of alkali metal sulfates. Since the commercially available aqueous hydrochloric acid contains only about 30 percent HCl and therefore large amounts of water are introduced into the process when working according to these known processes, it appeared to be desirable to effect the digestion with the aid of gaseous hydrochloric acid.
When fully gaseous hydrochloric acid acts on mixtures of rock phosphates and alkali sulphates, however, only a very imperfect digestion was achieved. In particular, caking of the reaction mass occurs easily. whereby the further Penetration of the hydrochloric acid gas into the reaction mass is prevented. An improvement can be achieved by adding indifferent substances as loosening agents. to prevent baking.
It has now been found that the addition of moisture has an extremely favorable effect on the speed and extent of the reaction. It has proven to be very useful to add loosening agents to your mixture full of rolling phosphate and alkali sulfate, which are able to absorb moisture in large quantities without losing their powdery nature, as is the case, for example, with kieselguhr or similar substances. The necessary moisture can either be added to these substances in the admixture with the phosphate-alkali sulphate mixture or the finished mixture of phosphate, alkali sulphate and loosening agent, but before the action of the hydrochloric acid gas, whereby the amount of moisture is to be limited so that the mass does not lose its powdery consistency.
Instead of kieselguhr and the like, one can also use powdery substances which by nature contain larger amounts of moisture, such as B. Rnlibraunkolile. Embodiment r. 500 g of cura @ aophosphate, 400 g of ammonium consulate and 300 g of pebbles are mixed with one another. The mixture is treated with so much @, #% water that the mass still appears powdery. It is then exposed to the action of gaseous hydrochloric acid. The product is in powder form and contains 12.21 percent water-soluble, 12.50 percent citrate-soluble and 12.9o percent total phosphoric acid. Execution example 2. 500 g curagaophosphate, 400 g ammonium sulfate and zoo g powdered raw lignite are mixed together and the mixture is exposed to the action of hydrochloric acid gas. The completely powdery product contains 11.71 percent water-soluble, 11.99 percent citrate-soluble and 12.06 percent total phosphoric acid.
It is already known, bones and similar phosphate-containing materials to be layered in vessels with water. and to introduce gaseous hydrochloric acid. There here only 0.5 l: 1.5 percent of the available phosphate of hydrogen chloride is used the quantity of the latter is sufficient: not even enough for that in the bones existing carbonate of lime, which experience shows is attacked first, to solve. From a digestion of the phosphate can therefore in this known process, which, by the way, is only a pretreatment to facilitate the subsequent digestion process aims to be out of the question at all.-There is a known process in which Rock phosphate with Chlormag: lesium is heated in red heat for a few hours. at Carrying out this process, digestion results in the formation of water-soluble ones f-phosphoric acid is not achieved at all, and not curse if you are for Absence of water, e.g. B. by passing water vapor, takes care.
In another known method, phosphates are in the presence treated from moisture with nitrous gases. When working according to this procedure the nitrous gases are only slowly and incompletely absorbed with formation someone who is only about this percent open-minded when standing up the air soon becoming greasy product.
After all, it is already known for the digestion of rock phosphates with aqueous acid, especially sulfuric acid, the digestion process in the presence of water-binding substances such as peat, diatomite, sawdust, etc. or add water-absorbent agents to finished fertilizers. None of these known methods, however, the conclusion could be drawn - that when applied the gaseous acid acid not previously used for phosphate digestion a smooth one and complete digestion succeeds if one for the presence of water-containing Loosening agents while maintaining the powdery nature of the reaction mixture Cares.
