Abstract

Appts. comprises a gravity filled foundry mould having a gating system, separate from and feeding into, at least one complete casting cavity. The gating system comprises a sprue-feeder into the cavity, the sprue feeder and mould including also as required a sprue feeder extension, a stainstromer positioned between the sprue-feeder and the cavity and a separate flow restrainer with lifting handle for blocking off apertures in the skin strainer, hence restricting flow until choking of the sprue feeder. Floating restrainers may also be positioned in the apertures additional to the manual restrainers or alternatively non floating restrainers, or combinationsa of all three methods may be used.
