Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung von hochwertigem Klebstoff und Zuckersirup aus entzuckerten Rübenschnitzeln. Durch Kochen von Rübenschnitzeln mit verdünnten Säuren und die darauf folgende Entzuckerung erhält man oinen Klebstoff, welcher in vielen Fällen Knochenleim, Gummiarabikum u. dgl. mit bestem Erfolg ersetzt. Untersuchungen dieses Klebstoffes haben ergeben, daß er hauptsächlich aus zwei Substanzen besteht, welche leicht, z. B. durch Ausfällen mittels Äthylalkohol aus konzentrierter Lösung, voneinander getrennt werden können. Der in Alkohol lösliche Bestandteil stellt hauptsächlich eine Zuckersubstanz, am wahrscheinlichsten eine Pentobiose dar. Dieser Zucker polarisiert nach links und gibt durch Hydrolyse mit beispielsweise 2prozentiger H, S04 fast ausschließlich r-Arabinose. Der in Alkohol unlösliche Bestandteil besteht aus Pektinsubstanzen, deren Molekül hauptsächlich aus Galakturonsäure besteht. Diese Pektinsubstanz bildet ein Kolloid von sehr hohem Molekulargewicht und außerordentlich hoher Klebefähigkeit, so daß die Viskosität einer 4prozentigen Lösung 8 bis io, während die Viskosität desAusgangsklebstoffes nur 3 bis 4 und des Gummiarabikums nur etwa 2 beträgt. Diese Substanz eignet sich daher vorzüglich zum Ersatz von Gummiarabikum bzw. Tragant als Verdickungsmittel für die Farben im Gewebedruck, zur Appretur, zur Tintenfabrikation und in vielen anderen Fällen, und zwar überall dort, wo es auf hohe Klebefähigkeit ankommt.Process for the production of high quality glue and sugar syrup made from sugar beet pulp.
