Abstract

A drawstring for ruffling clothes is equipped with a yarn system consisting of unelastic yarns, into which a number of continuous yarns are drawn. The yarns run over the whole of the tape length without being knotted at a distance from each other and float alternatingly on both sides of the tape. Two continuous yarns consisting of an elastic material feature a seam space between them that is bigger than the yarn distance. Seam spaces and yarn distances alternate across the width of the tape. The continuous yarns of the ruffled tape are pref. gathered at the tape ends and fixed with a knot. The ruffling creates ruches on both sides of the continuous yarns, which result in corresponding ruches in the garment. The continuous yarns have a diameter that is considerably bigger than that of the non-elastic yarns. The distance between two continuous yarns is twice to three times the yarn diameter.
