Abstract

The weighing vessel (1) is suspended within an outer housing (21) and a support framework (34) contains anti-vibration mountings (33). The vessel is centralised by equispaced compliant struts (44) which allow a limited amount of vertical movement, and is suspended from a piston (43b) working in a cylinoer (43). Weight is measured by a load cell (18) and electronic equipment. Liquid is admitted to the vessel (1) via an inlet pipe (4a) and an aperture (10). The vessel outlet (1m) is opened or closed by valve (1n) which can discharge vessel contents into the funnel mouth (45b) of an outlet pipe (5a). An annular stop (45c) fitted in the funnel mouth (45b) can take the weight of the vessel during filling after piston (43) has been lowered. To make a weight measurement the vessel is raised by piston (43) clear of stop (45a), when it is free of all touching contact with outer housing (21).
