Abstract

Photographic base material for light-sensitive layers consists of plastics-coated paper or plastics film with an antistatic back coating contg silicate cpds, which accepts writing. The novelty is that the back coating consists of (a) a styrene-butadiene-methacrylate terpolymer latex, (b) Si02 with a particle size of 3-6 microns, (c) an Al-modified colloidal Si02 sol and (d) an aq soln of a salt of an organic polyacid and water. The amts of these substances are those giving optimum printability with ribbons and pencil writing capacity, min soiling in spent oxidised development baths, min discoloration in the colour developer, optimum adhesion to adhesive tape and optimum antistatic properties.
