Abstract

Coke is formed by mixing a milled coal charge with coke at 600-1000 deg. C at a charge:coke wt. ratio of 1.3-2.6:1 in a direct flow regime such that the coke is cooled to 150-250 deg. C and the coal charge is heated to 120-240 deg. C. After the heat exchange the coke and coal charge are sepd. and the heated coal charge is supplied to the coking operation.
