Abstract

A multi-high rolling mill stand has two work rolls, each supported by a pair of axially adjustable intermediate rolls directly or indirectly on back-up rolls or a row of back-up rolls, each intermediate roll having only one tapered roll barrel end and two such ends being located on each side of the stand. The novelty is that the intermediate rolls, with tapered ends located on the same side of the stand and associated with the same work roll, are displaceable independently of one another and the adjacent tapered ends are axially offset w.r.t. one another.
