Abstract

The invention relates to a multi-roll stand (cluster mill) with a work roll (4) arranged on at least one side of the rolling path, at least one intermediate roll (5) and at least one set (6) of back-up rollers, each consisting of a plurality of back-up rollers (15) supported on a back-up roller shaft (14), the back-up roller shaft (14) extending essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the work roll (4) and of the intermediate roll (5), and with a plurality of saddle pieces (16) supported by the set (6) of back-up rollers on a bearing housing (2), the individual saddle pieces (16) being adjustable independently of one another in their position relative to the axis of the work roll (4) by means of adjusting devices in order to bend the work roll. In order to achieve jerk-free adjustment of the shape of the rolling gap by appropriate bending of the work rolls during the rolling process, the proposal is that the adjusting devices should each consist of a pressure element (11, 12) acting directly on the corresponding saddle pieces (16). <IMAGE>
