Abstract

The child-resistant screw cap with a tamper-proof safeguard for containers and the like comprises an inside part (1), which can be screwed onto the container neck, and an outside part (15) which is held with a snap-on fit by the inside part. Provided on the closure parts (1, 15) are interacting first and second engagement elements (7, 21) which come into positive engagement with each other within an axial clearance between the closure parts in the case of rotation of the closure in the direction of being screwed onto the container neck and, in the case of an opposite rotation, can slide off on each other in the manner of a wedge. The closure can therefore only be unscrewed from the container neck under the effect of a simultaneous rotational and axial force exerted on the outside part (1). Attached to one of the closure parts (1, 15) via tear-off webs (10) is a safeguard ring (11) which holds the outside part (15) in an axial position, preventing engagement of the engagement elements (7, 21), relative to the inside part (1). The engagement elements (7, 21) can therefore only be brought into effective connection after separation of the safeguard ring (11). The safeguard ring can only be separated under an axial force exerted on the outside part (15) whilst tearing the webs (10). <IMAGE>
