Abstract

An accurately dimensioned, slab or block of settable, castable material, esp. gypsum, is made by pouring a casting slurry, in an amt. at least corresponding to the vol. of the component, into top-open mould chamber which is inclined to the vertical to form a filling level, extending into a retaining space located above and adjacent to the only partly filled mould chamber. The slurry is displaced from the retaining space into the still empty vol. of the mould chamber until the chamber is completely filled, simultaneously with progressive closure of the chamber, so that excess slurry is removed. After setting, the mould top is reopened and the set element is removed.
