Abstract

Gas heaters with atmospheric burners have the NOx content in their waste gases reduced by recycling a certain percentage of the waste gases into the air intake for the burner. The pipe for the waste gases, which is surrounded by a concentric pipe for the air intake from outside the building, has several reflux holes. The amount of the recycled waste gas is determined by restrictions or butterfly valves in either pipe. The atmospheric gas burner (20) at the bottom of the heater (1) receives the primary air (3) for the injector (4) and mixer tube (5) and the secondary air (7) through a channel (6) from the pipe (11a). A fan (8) with a motor (9) passes the waste gases through the box (19) to the concentric pipe (10a). Some of the waste gas is recycled through the reflux holes (12a).
