Insbesondere zu Sanierungs- und Umbauzwecken müssen an be stehenden Bauwerken sehr oft nachträglich Aufnahmeöffnungen oder Durchbrüche angebracht werden. Die Werkstoffe dieser Bauwerke, deren Erstellung sehr oft schon Jahre oder Jahr zehnte zurückliegt, weisen vielfach sehr hohe Festigkeits und Härtewerte auf. Entsprechend hoch ist denn auch der Ver schleiß der Bohr- und Schneidwerkzeuge. Ein schlechter Zustand der Bohr- und Schneidwerkzeuge ermöglicht nur sehr kleine Vorschubwerte und ergibt somit sehr lange Bearbei tungszeiten. In der Praxis ist es bei der Gesteinsbearbei tung beispielsweise mittels diamantenbestückter Werkzeuge üblich, der Bearbeitungsstelle Wasser zuzuführen. Dieses Wasser hat verschiedene Aufgaben.
