Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an accumulator unit a housing in which one or more Accumulator cells are arranged and on the Contact surfaces for their electrical connection to a Charger or an implement that can be driven by it are provided.
For tools such as power tools it is common to use these devices with a To provide accumulator unit. There is no need thereby a mains connection during work. Is the Discharged accumulator unit, then it with a Charger connected, especially inserted into this. After the accumulator unit has been charged these in for further operation of the implement use this.
For chargers that gradually reduce the battery cells, charging over ten hours, for example no particular difficulties. But should one Fast charging of the accumulator cells of the Accumulator unit take place, then result Difficulties. Because with that for a quick charge Higher charging current can overheat the Accumulator cells are coming.
Such overheating can cause the Accumulator cells are damaged or destroyed.
For chargers that charge the Accumulator unit in normal charge, for example Perform within ten hours are none special switch-off devices for the charging current necessary, since this comparatively weak charging current does not increase Damage to the battery cells can result.
However, if the accumulator unit with a comparatively high charging current quickly charged, then the charging current must be switched off. These Shutdown can be done in that the charging current is monitored and at a corresponding value of Charging current is switched off. Such circuits are complex and can not be inexpensive realize.
It has been proposed to the accumulator cell temperature-dependent resistance or a bimetal too put and with this a control current of the charger switch. Such a solution is inconvenient because of it both in the charger and in the Accumulator cell a special circuit arrangement is necessary. So with one type of charger charge only one type of accumulator unit.
It is also state of the art a timer to provide the after a certain charging time Charging current interrupts.
The object of the invention is an accumulator unit to propose of the type mentioned in the the charging current automatically when the full charge is reached switches off.
According to the invention, the above task is for a Accumulator unit of the type mentioned above solved that a thermal switch is arranged in the housing, which is connected in series to the accumulator cell and whose temperature-dependent link between the Outer jacket of the battery cell and one in the housing arranged electrical heating element depending on the temperature is movable that the temperature-dependent in the charging mode Link switches off the charging current via the thermal switch, if the accumulator cell is one for the full charge characteristic temperature reached and that the Thermal switch from the heating element in this switch position is held until the flowing through the heating element Heating current when separating the accumulator unit from The charger switches off.
This ensures that the accumulator unit at a quick charge, upon completion, automatically interrupts the charging current, so that the further Do not leave the accumulator unit in the charger can damage the accumulator cells. As long as the accumulator unit in the charger remains plugged in, flows through the heating element Heating current. Because of the heat given off by the heating element, which acts on the temperature-dependent link is the Thermal switch kept open.
When the battery pack is disconnected from the charger the heating current is interrupted so that the Thermal switch returns to its original position. The Accumulator unit can then be provided in the Work tool can be plugged in.
It is also favorable that the backup of the Accumulator unit is integrated into it. It can therefore chargers are used for fast charging, which have no special fuse circuit.
It is also favorable that the thermal switch and Heating element are simple components that are easy to put in have the housing installed.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention Thermal switch a bimetal switch, the one Switch contact from the temperature-dependent element, namely a bimetal strip is formed.
Such an accumulator unit is suitable for Power tools, electrically operated kitchen appliances and electrically operated garden tools.
In der Zeichnung zeigen:Further advantageous embodiments of the invention result from the following description of Embodiments. The drawing shows:

Fig. 4 ein Schaltbild eines weiteren Ausführungsbeispiels. Fig. 4 is a circuit diagram of another embodiment.
The accumulator unit has a housing ( 1 ). In the exemplary embodiment, only one accumulator cell ( 2 ) is arranged in this. For higher voltages, several accumulator cells ( 2 ) are provided in the housing ( 1 ). However, the device described below only needs to be provided for one of the accumulator cells.
The accumulator cell ( 2 ) has a metallic jacket ( 3 ), which is provided with an electrically insulating paper covering. The usual contact poles ( 4 , 5 ) are provided on the accumulator cell ( 2 ).
A bimetal switch ( 6 ) is arranged in the housing ( 1 ) and has a bimetal strip ( 7 ) as a temperature-dependent element. The bimetallic strip ( 7 ) is designed in such a way that in its one switching position (cf. FIG. 1) there is an area ( 8 ) on the metallic jacket ( 3 ) in a heat-conducting manner. For this purpose, the paper wrapping can be provided with a corresponding window.
A fixed end of the bimetallic strip ( 7 ) is electrically connected to a contact surface ( 9 ) which is open on the outside of the housing ( 1 ). A contact ( 10 ) of the bimetal switch ( 6 ) is assigned to the bimetal strip ( 7 ). The contact ( 10 ) is connected to the pole ( 4 ) via an electrically conductive bracket ( 11 ). The pole ( 5 ) is connected to a second contact surface ( 12 ) which is open on the outside of the housing ( 1 ).
A diode ( 14 ) is connected between the contact surface ( 9 ) and the bimetal switch ( 6 ).
Fig. 2).Parallel to the series connection of the accumulator cell ( 2 ) and the bimetallic switch ( 6 ) and - in FIGS. 1 to 3 - the diode ( 14 ) there is an electrical heating element ( 13 ), for example a heating resistor. The heating element ( 13 ) is arranged so that the bimetallic strip ( 7 ) comes into contact with it when it is pivoted (cf. FIG. 2).
Die Arbeitsweise der beschriebenen Akkumulatoreneinheit ist etwa folgende:The operation of the accumulator unit described is something like this:
If the accumulator cell ( 2 ) is to be charged, the housing ( 1 ) is inserted into a charger (not shown). The contact surfaces ( 9 , 12 ) are contacted and a charging current for the battery cell ( 2 ) flows over the bimetal strip ( 7 ) of the bimetal switch ( 6 ).
When the accumulator cell ( 2 ) is rapidly charged, its metallic jacket ( 3 ) is heated. This heat acts on the bimetallic strip ( 7 ) via the area ( 8 ). After a certain charging time, the metallic jacket ( 3 ) will take on a temperature of, for example, about 44 ° C., which is a criterion for the battery cell ( 2 ) to be fully charged. At this temperature, the charging process should no longer be continued, otherwise the battery cell ( 2 ) will be damaged. At this temperature, the bimetallic strip ( 7 ) is pivoted so far that it has detached from the contact ( 10 ). As a result, the charging current is interrupted. The bimetallic strip ( 7 ) now lies against the heating element ( 13 ) which is heated so that the bimetallic strip ( 7 ) remains in its pivoted position.
Fig. 1).If the accumulator unit is removed from the charger, the heating current ends, so that the heating element ( 13 ) cools down and the bimetallic strip ( 7 ) returns, so that the bimetallic switch ( 6 ) closes again (cf. FIG. 1).
The pole ( 4 ) of the battery cell ( 2 ) is connected via a conductor ( 15 ) to a third contact surface ( 16 ) which is open on the outside of the housing ( 1 ).
If the accumulator unit is now plugged into the relevant implement (not shown), the contact surfaces ( 16 and 12 ) are connected to corresponding contacts on the implement. The accumulator cell ( 2 ) can now operate the implement.
The diode ( 14 ) prevents a heating current from flowing over the electric heating element ( 13 ), which would represent an unnecessary load on the battery cell ( 2 ).
Fig. 4). In the embodiment of Fig. 4, the bimetal switch (6) is designed as a changeover switch. If the bimetallic strip ( 7 ) is heated by the battery cell ( 2 ) in rapid charging mode, then it detaches from the contact ( 10 ) and not only swivels to the heating element ( 13 ), but also to another contact ( 17 ) (see Fig . 4). As a result, the heating element ( 13 ), which was previously switched off, is now connected to the charger ( 13 ) via the contact surfaces ( 9 , 12 ). It holds the bimetal strip ( 7 ) in this position until the housing ( 1 ) is pulled out of the charger.
The bimetal strip ( 7 ) then swings back to the contact ( 10 ) after a certain cooling time. If the housing ( 1 ) is now plugged into an implement, it can be operated using the closed bimetal switch ( 6 ). In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4, in contrast to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3, only two contact surfaces ( 9 , 12 ) are required on the housing ( 1 ) for the charging operation and the discharging operation.
