Die Schwingungs­ erzeuger bestehen aus feststehenden Antrieben mit Kurbelzapfen (Zwangsläufer) oder aus Massen-Unwuchten, die direkt im Plan­ sichter gelagert sind (Freischwinger). In jedem Falle sind die von den Schwingungserzeugern ausgehenden Kräfte abhängig von der schwingenden Masse des Plansichters sehr groß und erfordern einen großen konstruktiven Aufwand. An Stelle der einzelnen Siebabteile können auch Gruppen von mehreren Siebabteilen angeordnet sein. Ein zusätzlicher Schwingungserzeuger erübrigt sich bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Plansichter, weil die eine Plansichterhälfte jeweils der Schwingungserzeuger für die andere Hälfte ist.
