Thermoelement für Strahlungsmessungen. Bekanntlich hängt die E. M.
K. von Thermoelementen, .die aus zwei verlöteten Metallen bestehen, einmal von dem
Maße der Erwärmung der Lötstelle und, .das andere Mal von,der Wahl der verlöteten
Metalle ab. Es. ist ferner bekannt, @daß man eine hohe E. M. K. erhält, wenn man
an Stelle reiner Metalle besondere Legierungen. aus Wismut, Antimon usw. wählt.
Derartige Legierungen sind aber äußerst spröde :und lassen sich weder ziehen,
noch
hämmern oder in ähnlicher Weise bearbeiten. Zur Ableitung des Stromes muß das Thermoelement
an zwei Leitungsdrähten o. dgl. befestigt werden, die man zwecks Verringerung des
Übergangswiderstandes gleichfalls anlötet. Infolgedessen weist das Thermoelement
außer der den Wärmestrahlen auszusetzenden Lötstelle noch zwei andere auf, die bei
ungeeigneter Anordnung die E. 11.1i. herabsetzen. Wenn nämlich auch diese Neiden
Lötstellen bestrahlt werden, so bilden sie die Quellen je einer E. 11. K., die derjenigen
der eigentlich allein zu bestrahlenden Lötstelle entgegengesetzt gerichtet sind.
Dieser Mißstand läßt sich zwar theoretisch in der Weise beheben, daß man 'die zweite
und dritte Lötstelle verhältnismäßig weit von der ersten Lötstelle entfernt, so
daß sie nicht mehr in dem Bereich der Wärmestrahlen stehen. Man kann dies aber nur
machen, wenn man die z. B. aus der schon erwähnten Metallegierung hergestellten
Elektroden, verhältnismäßig lang ausführen würde. Dem steht aber die äußerst spröde
Beschaffenheit solcher Legierungen im Wege, weil ein Stab, auch wenn er nur wenige
Millimeter lang ist, infolge seiner Sprödigkeit sehr leicht bricht, wenn er sich

Ende des kurzen Stabes befindet sich mithin gewissermaßen in dem Schatten .der Scheibe
und des Stabes, so daß sie der Einwirkung der Wärmestrahlen vollkommen oder nahezu

Von den beiden Elektroden A, B, auf deren Lötstelle die Wärmestrahlen
treffen sollen, ist die eine (A) als eine senkrecht zu den Strahlen stehende dünne
Scheibe mit möglichst geringer Wärmekapazität ausgeführt. Sie besteht z. B. aus.
Platin, hat eine Dicke von etwa o,ooi min und einen Durchmesser von etwa 3 bis 5
mm. Sie ist auf .der den Strahlen. zugewandten Seite (in. Abb. i rechts) geschwärzt,
auf der anderen dagegen zur Vermeidung von Strahlungsverlusten blank. Die andere
Elektrode B besteht aus einer Metalllegierung hoher thermoelektrischer Kraft, ist
als ein, kurzer Stab ausgeführt und an .ler Scheibe A auf deren. den Strahlen abgewandten
Seite angelötet. Die Länge des Stabes B beträgt z. B. i l:is 3 mm und seine Dicke

an. Kontakte J, K angeschlossen. In den Sockel H ist ferner eine die übrigen: Teile
des Thermoeltments umschließende Glasbirne L eingekittet, aus deren Innern die Luft
