Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a shielded housing for electronic assemblies or components, which has conductive walls with earth or mass are connectable.
To prevent or minimize the harmful Effects of electrostatic discharge electronic equipment and devices related to this contain sensitive electronic components basically two options: either can appropriate insulation of the housing the possibility of Occurrence of discharge is prevented or severe be restricted, which is particularly the case Plastic or similar insulation materials, or the housing can be shielded with conductive Material existing walls can be provided with Earth or earth are connectable to derive the Allow discharge. In the former type of Design are corresponding wall thicknesses of the insulating housing necessary as well as corresponding Clearances at air intakes and keyboards or the like. Furthermore, the entire housing must be insulating and must not be essentially any conductive parts have, otherwise arcing will occur. Besides that the insulating housing naturally does not provide any protection against electromagnetic interference of the device. In the second training mentioned in the Dissipation of the electrostatic discharge via the grounded housing flows very strong discharge currents, e.g. up to 70 A at 15 kV, which makes it inside the conductive housing for inductive influences sensitive components can come what especially in modern electronic systems or Devices is a problem.
The object of the present invention is a housing of the type mentioned in such a way that the described negative effects of Electrostatic discharges avoided or without influence on the electronic components arranged in the housing stay.
This is according to the present invention achieved that on the conductive walls on the outside of the housing an insulation layer and on the Insulation layer is a surface resistance layer is applied. In principle, this is the derivative Effect of the conductive case connected to earth maintained, but the discharge current in its respective strength can be influenced. About the Surface resistance layer and that between this and arranged the conductive walls of the housing Insulation layer is a controlled derivation of the Discharge with harmless, small currents possible, with which inductive influence inside the anyway also effective electromagnetic shielding housing be prevented.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the surface resistance layer at least one more Combination of insulation layer and outside overlying surface resistance layer be applied, which can be selected within wide limits Insulation and resistance values of these layers let achieve.
After an advantageous further training of Invention is provided that the Surface resistance layer or layers in some areas the adjacent insulation layer (s) enforced or enforce. So that is in certain Enforcement areas a direct, managerial contact between the superimposed resistance layers and given with the conductive wall of the housing so that the insulation layer between two conductive layers or on the surface of the conductive wall from Discharge current does not need to be broken and a more controllable discharge discharge is possible.
Provided several combinations Surface resistance layer and insulation layer the conductive walls of the housing can be provided according to an advantageous further embodiment of the Invention said enforcement areas of neighboring layer combinations against each other be staggered, which is a direct flow of the discharge current prevented through the enforcement areas and a allows better control of the derivative.
The individual surface resistance layers or Insulation layers can, according to further training Invention have different thicknesses and / or from different materials, what the Possibility of influencing the discharge discharge further increased.
In a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that the surface resistance layers made of conductive lacquer, especially smoldering varnish, and the insulation layers consist of insulating varnish. These materials are with the various physical and chemical parameters commercially available and can be simple and therefore inexpensive way, for example by painting, Splash or immerse on the conductive walls of the Housing are applied.
The outer surface resistance layer can according to a further embodiment with an additional Coating as a protective or colored layer, what a damage and thus partial ineffectiveness the underlying layers prevented and / or a largely independent design of the external appearance of the housing allowed.
An inventive method for producing a Housing of the type described above, in which the Surface resistance layers in some areas push through adjacent insulation layers characterized in that the insulation layers and the Surface resistance layers by spraying are applied, each before applying the Insulation layer cover elements in shape and arrangement the desired enforcement areas the above provided surface resistance layer attached be made before applying the Surface resistance layer can be removed again. The desired direct contact of the Surface resistance layer to the next underlying similar layer or conductive wall of the housing in a simple manner immediately when this layer is applied be made what the manufacture of the case overall very simplified.
The invention is explained below with reference to the embodiments shown in the drawing; Figs. 1 to 3 each show a schematic representation of a section of the wall area shielded housing in different embodiments according to the invention in cross section.
Masse angedeutet. A conductive wall 1 of the housing 2 is shown in Fig. 1 at the outer side 3 provided with an insulating layer 4, which here for instance from an applied by spraying insulating varnish. A surface resistance layer 5 is applied to the insulation layer 4 , which consists, for example, of conductive lacquer also applied by spraying, as is used, for example, as a so-called glow protection lacquer as external glow protection in the groove part for finished high-voltage insulation of coils and rods. Finally, an additional coating 6 is applied to the outer surface of this surface resistance layer 5 , which serves as a protective or color layer and usually also has certain insulation properties. Finally, the connection 7 of the conductive wall 1 with earth or ground is indicated at the bottom right.
When an electrostatic discharge indicated by the arrow 8 occurs , the coating 6 is broken down as a result of the usually very high voltage, whereupon the discharge current, influenced by the resistance value of the surface resistance layer 5 , propagates in it, which is usually (as also indicated in FIG. 1) not necessarily on the shortest path or in a completely vertical direction. After breaking through the insulation layer 4 - which, like the breaking through of the coating 6, again does not necessarily take place in the vertical direction - the correspondingly weakened discharge current flows through the connection 7 to earth or ground. A selection of the material and the thickness of this layer, which makes the resistance value of the surface resistance layer 5 selectable within wide limits, can ensure that the leakage current does not become too high, as a result of which there can be no inductive influences of sensitive electronic components in this regard inside the conductive housing .
The embodiment of Fig. 2 differs from that of FIG. 1 essentially only in that here the surface resistance layer 5 passes through regions, the underlying insulating layer 4, which in this enforcement regions 9, direct conductive contact between the surface of resistive layer 5 and the conductive wall 1 of Housing 2 is made. After passing through the coating 6 in the surface resistance layer 5, the electrostatic discharge indicated by the arrow 8 or the discharge current that occurs propagates essentially in a controlled manner towards the enforcement regions 9 , as is also indicated in FIG. 2. The discharge current is then in turn derived via connection 7 to earth or ground. With this configuration, the discharge current can now be additionally influenced via the dimensioning and arrangement of the enforcement areas 9 ; these areas can be arranged, for example, in the form of individual isolated islets or in the form of a network or grid structure or the like.
To produce the arrangement according to FIG. 2, the insulation layer 4 , the surface resistance layer 5 and also the additional coating 6 can be applied in a spraying process with lacquers which have the desired properties, with cover elements in the form and arrangement of the desired enforcement areas 9 being applied before the insulation layer 4 is applied are attached, which are then removed again before the application of the surface resistance layer 5 . This enables a very simple, inexpensive and functionally reliable production.
The embodiment according to FIG. 3 differs from that according to FIG. 2 only in that a further combination of this type is now arranged above the first, wall-side combination of insulation layer 4 and surface resistance layer 5 , the enforcement areas 9 being used to prevent the discharge current from going straight through of the two layer combinations are mutually offset. In this way, it is possible to influence the flow of the discharge current even further, and thus to further secure the electronic components located in the housing 2 .
For the sake of completeness, I would like to add here noted that in all the embodiments Dimensions or thickness ratios of the individual Layers and the enforcement areas only schematically are to be understood and that especially in the Enforcement areas may result Changes in shape of the layers are not taken into account.
