Electric gas lamp whose lighting effect is based on the negative glow light
is based. The invention relates to an electrical device that is preferably filled with noble gas
Lamp; whose lighting effect is based on the negative glow light. According to the invention
a mesh of woven or knitted metal wire is used as the cathode. It
it has been shown that a. such network in terms of propagation and
Distribution of the negative glow light behaves roughly in the same way as an uninterrupted one
sheet-like electrode, e.g. B. a
Sheet. While with the latter
but the glowing light sitting on the opposite side of the direction of radiation
is not properly exploited, or for this reason an occurrence of the same
must be avoided (e.g. by isolating this opposite side)
the network utilizes the glow light layers on both halves, there
it is practically transparent to light. Moreover, it is easy to set up such a network
made of hard-to-melt metal wire, e.g. B. tungsten wire, making the
Sputtering of the electrode is significantly reduced.
By setting the current intensity accordingly, it is also possible to
To make parts of the network glow and emit light. This is how it is
it is possible in special cases to increase the lighting effect of the lamp or the
To make incandescent radiation the main effect.
In the case of electric gas lamps, there are already reticulated cathodes
known. But it was about lamps in which the lighting effect does not differ
negative glow light from the cathode, but from the elongated part of the lamp
went out between the electrodes, so that the peculiar effects described here
could not enter.
In the figure, k represents the reticulated cathode (in the special
Case, its shape is similar to a mantle), a the anode; the feedings to the
Electrodes are insulated by overmelted glass.
B. Buchstaben, enthalten. An diesen Stellen j erscheinen dann
dem Netz sich befinden, z. B. aus gewöhnlichem Glas oder fluoreszierendem Glas;
B. in Form
zweier konzentrischer Halbkugeln anbringen.
The cathode network can have openings in one or more places
Form of characters, e.g. B. letters included. At these points j then appear
dark spots in the glow light, which the contours, z. B. of letters own.
Instead of openings you can also use insulating parts in the form of these characters
are located on the network, e.g. B. ordinary glass or fluorescent glass;
the corresponding areas then appear either dark or glow in the case of fluorescent
Glass in a color different from that of the glow light. The network can finally
also have the shape of any signs or ornaments themselves. j special
The use of net-shaped cathodes in AC lamps has proven to be beneficial
of this kind. Instead of having the two electrodes either in the same shape, as is the case with sheet metal
and size side by side or in unequal size and shape concentric to each other
to arrange, you can place the two reticulated electrodes in one another, for. B. in shape
Attach two concentric hemispheres. During one half cycle of the alternating current
then the outer network shines, while the other shines the inner network under the influence
of the negative glow light, with the latter oscillating back and forth between
the electrodes are hardly noticeable to the eye, since the rays always emanate from the same
Direction coming into the eye.
