Abstract

An agricultural baler has a bale case (1) with a feed inlet (65) through which the crop is transferred from the feed duct (62) by means of a feed mechanism before being compacted in the case by a reciprocating ram or plunger (5). The feed mechanism comprises a rotating tine shaft or bar (37) on which are mounted packer and stuffer tines (46, 47) which are angularly offset from each other. A second rotating tine shaft (72) also carries a set of packer tines (73) is fitted to a frame (76, 80) which rotates in an eccentric manner about shaft (37) driven by connecting crank arms. The material is fed evenly into the bale case, and the drive gearing of the ram or plunger is such that the feed mechanism rotates at twice the speed of the ram.
