Abstract

The displacement system uses two stator drive coils (28,29) fixed to a coil support (30) cooperating with a permanent magnet single pole pair (24) provided by he the rotor. The drive coils (28,29) are selectively energised to displace the rotor into one or other of two switch positions. Both switch positions are defined by stops (32,33) on the stator side and by a neck (25) on the rotor side. The rotor oscillations are clamped by an eddy current clamping system (26,27) with short-circuit windings additionally attached to the stator and operative adjacent the switching positions.
