In größeren Kreiselpumpenanlagen sind in der Regel Vakuumpumpen erforderlich, welche die Kreiselpumpen vor der Inbetriebsetzung entlüften bzw. mit Wasser auffüllen. Diese Vakuumpumpen sind in -der Regel nur für vorübergehenden Betrieb gebaut und müssen ausgeschaltet werden, sobald die Kreiselpumpen- entlüftet sind. Um nun die 'Pumpenanlagen selbsttätig betreiben zu können, ist auch für die Vakuumpumpe eine selbsttätige Ein- und Ausschaltvorrichtung erforderlich. Bisher wurden die kleinen Antriebsmotore der Vakuumpumpen entweder durch Schwimmerschalter, Vakuumschalter, Druckschalter o..dgl. in und außer Betrieb gesetzt.
