in alkoholisch wässeriger Lösung erhalten- (Ann. igi, S. 2,68,
[1878]). Dadiee
Chim.
[31
Bd. 9, S - 4:26, 118931 ), nach dem auch jetzt noch (Journ.
Am. S0c. 33, S. I4#5, [19171) gearbeitet wird.Process for the production of cyanohydrins. As is known, alkylene cyanohydrins are obtained by heating alkylene chlorohydrins with potassium cyanide in an alcoholic aqueous solution for several hours (Ann. Igi, p. 2,68, [1878]). Dadiee yield not very satisfactory, H e worked 1 enme he y a new procedure (Ann. Igi, p 269, [18781) to represent of- Alkylencyanhydrinen from alkylene oxide and hydrogen cyanide from. But this path is not satisfied because of its inconvenience and costliness well, and we came back to the old method back (Bull Soc Chim * [31 Bd 9, S -... 4:26, 118931), and j ow after is still being worked on (Journ. Am. S0c. 33, p . 14 # 5, [19171).
geschieht in üblicher Weise. It has now been found that halohydrins with purely aqueous cyanide solution
react in the cold to form cyanohydrins. The usage of
Alcohol is therefore absolutely unnecessary, and the hours of heating are completely eliminated
because this has a rather unfavorable effect here. Suffice it to be concentrated
Thoroughly mix the aqueous cyanide solution with the halohydrin, which is usually sparingly soluble in it
and to worry about it by cooling, ate the spontaneous onset after a short time
Reaction does not exceed a maximum temperature determined for each individual case.
If the cooling is not carried out, the reaction is very turbulent and so is the yield
drops to a fraction of the theory. In the other case the cyanohydrins are formed
in a very good yield, which cannot be obtained by the previous methods
could. This fact, combined with the saving of alcohol in the production,
allows extensive use of the alkylene cyanohydrins for production technically
valuable products. The isolation of the cyanohydrins from their aqueous solution
happens in the usual way.
