Device for determining the refraction of the eye and its astigmatism.
It is known to use one to determine the refraction and astigmatism of the eye
Make arrangement in which the image of the illuminated by a lens
Fundus using two glass juxtaposed
Prisms whose refracting edges are directed opposite to each other observed
is, whereby adjoining halves of the image only show when the
Prisms are at the location of the eye image. -, According to the invention is between
a mirror perforated in its center and one in front of the eye to be examined
The converging lens located only partially obscures the lens surface and is made of translucent
Substance existing, around the lens axis rotatable prism inside and outside the
Focal length of the lens arranged displaceably with respect to a division. It is
it is advantageous that of two telescopically telescopic and as a result of their
circular cross-section rotatable about its axis tubular body of the one the converging lens
and the other carries the prism. Simultaneously
is it appropriate
to use the tubes as a scale carrier in a known manner.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment, namely shows:
Fig. I the device in longitudinal section, Fig. 2 and 3 the arrangement of the resulting
Top view images of the fundus depending on the position of the prism in the image point
or outside of it.
gestaltet werden kann.a is the tubular body carrying the converging lens b and has a circular cross-section and c is the tubular body carrying the prism d, which is arranged to be displaceable relative to the body a and rotatable about the pipe axis. The prism d is kept so narrow that it only partially covers the lens surface when viewed from above. This device is placed between the eye e to be examined and a concave mirror f which has the opening ä in its center. Behind the mirror f, on its non-reflective side, is the examining eye lt and looks through the device towards the eye to be examined. The light required to illuminate the fundus falls in the direction of the arrow i on the mirror f, is reflected there and passes the prism, through the lens b and into the eye e. If the refraction of the eye is normal, then the light rays emanating from the illuminated fundus emerge parallel from the eye, since the fundus lies in the focal point of the system of refractive eye media. After these rays have passed through the lens b, the image of the fundus will therefore arise at the focal point n of the lens and can be observed through the eye h. The width of the prism is now chosen so that the width of the resulting image is greater than that of the prism. So you will be able to observe part of the image through the prism, while another part of the image emerges from the side. If the prism d is now brought into the focal point of the lens b, then the part of the image emerging to the side of the prism and the part of the image shown in the prism will be at the same level, as Fig. 2 shows. But if the refraction of the eye is too strong or too weak, then the light beam emerging from the eye already converges or diverges in a cone, and after its passage through the lens an image of the fundus is created in front of or behind the focal point, i.e. inside or outside the focal length. Accordingly, the image k of one part of the fundus of the eye can be observed once by the eye h through the device and, as a result of the refraction of the prism, a shifted image L, both of which are shown in FIG. By shifting the tube body c and thus the prism d forwards or backwards, the images can be brought to a height as can be seen in Fig.2. But then the prism is exactly at the point of the resulting image. These . towards the lens b or away from it displacement compared to the position of the focal point, gives a measure for the refraction, which can be read off directly according to the size by the classifications on the tube bodies. By rotating the prism around the tube axis and thus around the optical axis of the device, the refraction for each eye diameter can be determined in the same simple manner and the overall astigmatism can be determined. It is immediately clear that appropriately attached panels and the like can be used in the entire device, as they can also be designed differently.
The advantage of the device is on the one hand in the handiness in
Use, on the other hand, in its smallness and has the advantage of simplicity
in the manufacture nor that of the accuracy in the determination of the above-mentioned quantities.
