Apparat zur Behebung der Schlaflosigkeit. Die Erfindung betrifft ein
Gerät zur Behebung der Schlaflosigkeit. Seine Einrichtung beruht auf folgender Tatsache:
Wie allgemein bekannt, wird die am häufigsten auftretende -nervöse Schlaf losigkeit
durch Blutandrang nach dem Kopf, d. h. durch ÜberfüHung des Gehirns mit Blüt
verursacht, während Blutleere im Gehirn bekanntlich von#ommeneBewußtlosigkeithervorruft.
Die Vorrichtung soll nun den Blutandrang zum Gehirn so verhindern, daß die Grundursache
der am meisten vorkommenden Schlaflosigkeit beseitigt wird. Bekanntlich läßt sich
nun das Blut dadurch vom Gehirn ableiten, daß man die Arme über den Kopf emporhebt,
weil das aus den Armvenen abfließende Blut auch gleichzeitig das Blut vom Kopf mit
absaugt. So kann man beispielsweise Nasenbluten durch Emporheben der Arme fast stets
zum Stillstand bringen. Die Vorrichtung soll nun das genügend lange Hochhaften der
Arme erleichtern. Sie besteht aus einer Art Galgen, welcher verstellbar am Kopfende
des Bettgestells befestigt wird und mit zwei Handgriffen ausgerüstet ist, die durch
Verlängern oder Verkürzen. der Halteschnürt nach- der Armlänge der im Bett liegenden
Person. ein, gestellt werden können. An Stelle der Bügel können auch gut gepolsterte
Handschellen o. dgl. angebracht werden, in welthe sich, die Arme leicht einhängen
lassen, ohne daß man hierbei die ersteren mit der Hand festhalten muß. Auf diese
Weise sind dann# die Arme der im. Bett liegend-en Person hochgehoben, so,daß die
erforderliche Blutleere des Gehirns und damit ein tiefer Schlaf eintritt. Um ein
Ermüden der Arme durch, unnötig langes Hochhalten derselben zu verhindern, kann
das Gerät auch mit einem Uhrwerk versehen sein, weiches die Halteschnüre für die
Büge1 nach ein-er gewissen Zeit langsam nachläßt, so daß dann, die Arme des Schlafenden
die normale Lage wieder einnehmen. In der Zeichnung ist das neue Gerät in einer
beispielsweisen Ausführungsform dargestellt, und zwar in-Abb. i als Schaubild, Abb.

Zum Apparat gehört zunächst die Vertikalstütze i, welche am unteren
Ende gabelartig beschaffen ist. Am. besten wird die eine Gabelzinke:2 um ein Scharnier3
drehbar angeordnet, so daß sich die Gabel leicht auf die Stirnwand4 eines jederf
Bettg, gestells aufstecken und durch eine Flügelschraube 5 fest zusammenziehen
läßt, wodurch die Vertikalstütze i fest mit dein Bettgestell verbunden wird. Oben
ist mittels feststellbarem Scharnier 6 der Ausleger 7 an der Vertikalstütze
angebracht. Am äußeren freien Ende des Auslegers 7 sind die Schnüre
8 mit den Bügelh 9 befestigt. Das in der Einleitung, erwähnte Uhrwerk,
welches die Schnüre 8 nach einer gewissen Zeit nachläßt, ist in der Zeichnung
