nung erhalten. Die bekannten Zündsysteme haben den Nach
teil, daß sie hochfrequente Störungen verursachen und
außerdem relativ sorgfältig gewartet werden müssen.Fuel mixtures of internal combustion engines from motor vehicles
witnesses are known to be ignited today by ignition sparks,
generated by spark plugs produced by an ignition
Coil a corresponding high voltage through a distributor
received. The known ignition systems have the after
partly that they cause radio frequency interference and
also require relatively careful maintenance.
The invention has for its object an ignition system
for internal combustion engines to indicate which of these disadvantages
does not have and therefore no high-frequency interference
caused and is also largely maintenance-free. These
The object is achieved according to the invention by an optical ignition
System for internal combustion engines solved in which a half
conductor laser, a rotatable reflector and
optical fiber associated with the cylinders of the engine
lines are provided, which he from the semiconductor laser
testified and attached to the cylinders of the engine to ignite the
fuel mixture intended for combustion
conduct, and in which the reflector ver
is settable that the laser deflected by the reflector
beam into the combustion chamber at the respective ignition point
the cylinder arrives.
The ignition takes place after the optical ignition system
the invention thus by a laser beam which by
generates a semiconductor laser via a reflector in
Optical fiber lines (also called optical fibers)
blasted and into the
Combustion chambers of the engine cylinder is directed.
To optimize combustion, the focus should be
be placed in the middle of the combustion chamber so that a
higher performance and a reduction in pollutants
is achieved.
The optical ignition system according to the invention is at Mo
gates can be used with any number of cylinders. The
Reflect provided in the ignition system according to the invention
Tor is, for example, a mirror or a prism.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the reflect
Tor provided with a shaft that is connected to the crankshaft of the
Motors is coupled. Coupling the reflector shaft with
the crankshaft is preferably made by gears.
The gear ratio is so ge
selects that the laser beam at the respective ignition point
gets into the combustion chambers of the engine cylinders.
Die Erfindung wird im folgenden an Ausführungsbeispielen
erläutert. The invention is based on exemplary embodiments
explained.
lender Strahl 3 in diejenige Horizontalebene abgelenkt
Figs. 1 and 2 show the basic principle of the invention. Fig. 1 shows a chamber 1, a reflector in the form of a mirror 2 is located in the center thereof. The mirror 2 has such an inclination (angle alpha) to the horizontal talplane that a perpendicular to the horizontal plane einfal ling beam 3 is deflected into the horizontal plane in which the mouths of the m into the chamber 1 ending optical fiber cables ( 4 , 5 , 6th , 7 ). One fiber optic cable is assigned to one of four cylinders of an engine in the embodiment of FIG. 1. The beam 3 'reflected by the mirror 2 ' passes through the optical fibers assigned to the cylinders of an engine one after the other in accordance with the firing order of the engine and ignites the fuel mixture present in the cylinder heads. The falling beam 3 perpendicular to the horizontal plane is generated by a laser diode 8 , which radiates during engine operation. The mirror 2 arranged obliquely to the horizontal plane is driven by a rotation shaft which is driven by the crankshaft of the engine via a gear transmission. With the help of a corresponding gear ratio, the rotating mirror 2 is set in rotation in such a way that at the time of ignition that fiber optic cable is hit by the beam 3 reflected by the mirror 2 ', which is assigned to the respective engine cylinder provided for ignition. The chamber 1 is cylindrical in the embodiment example of FIGS. 1 and 2.
The arrangement of FIG. 2 differs from that of the ignition arrangement of FIG. 1 in that a prism 2 'with a triangular cross section is provided as a reflector in place of a mirror. The essential for the invention union reflection of the incident laser beam 3 takes place on the lower main surface 9 of the prism 2 '. The main surface 9 of the prism 2 'has the same inclination as the mirror 2 of Fig. 1, that is, the main surface 9 of the prism 2 ' is inclined so that the rays reflected on it 3 'are reflected in that plane in which Mün extensions of the optical fibers assigned to the motor cylinders ( 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 ). The prism 2 'is driven like the mirror 2 of FIG. 1 via a gear transmission and a shaft from the crankshaft of the engine.
Fig. 3 shows four different rotational positions of the mirror 2 of FIG. 1, through which the reflected rays 3 'in four different, the arrangement of the mouths of the optical fiber cables corresponding directions are reflected. Fig. 4 differs from Fig. 3 only in that instead of a mirror 2 a prism 2 'is provided with a triangular cross-section.
Fig. 1.
The ignition system of FIG. 5 corresponds to the ignition system of FIG. 1. In addition to FIG. 1, the Zahnradge gear 10 is indicated, which is driven by the crankshaft of the engine and the mirror 2 in a rotation corresponding to the firing order. 5 one (11) In addition, in FIG. Represented by the four cylinders of the engine, receives the pilot injection through the optical fiber cable 4.
diode 8 strahlen soll. Eine solche Einrichtung ist bei
spielsweise in ähnlicher Form in der Veröffentlichung
von TELEFUNKEN electronic GmbH "Laser Devices and IR-
Detectors for Optical Systems" 1985, Seite 35 beschrieben. The ignition system of FIG. 6 differs from the ignition system of FIG. 5 in that the laser diode 8 does not radiate continuously, but essentially only at the ignition point of the engine cylinder. This is achieved, for example, by a light barrier 12 , in the beam path of which a gear wheel 13 driven by the crankshaft of the engine via a toothed wheel 10 runs. The toothed wheel 13 is in the embodiment of FIG. 6 on the same shaft as the mirror 2 provided as a reflector. The gear 13 interrupts, for example, a beam supplied by a light-emitting diode in a certain rhythm, which corresponds to the required beam sequence of the laser diode 8 . The beam sequence is determined by the speed of rotation of the gear and the tooth spacing. The temporarily interrupted by the gear 13 light beam is through a light-sensitive element such. B. converted a transistor into a corresponding electrical signal and fed to a device that amplifies the corresponding electrical signal, if necessary, and also determines the pulse duration with which the laser diode 8 is to radiate. Such a device is described for example in a similar form in the publication by TELEFUNKEN electronic GmbH "Laser Devices and IR Detectors for Optical Systems" 1985, page 35.
