Description
Verfahren zum Walzen von Magnesiumlegierungen von der Art des Elektronmetalls. Das Auswalzen von Walzplatten oder Barren aus Elektronmetall, d. h. von Legierungen von Magnesium mit geringen Gehalten an Zink oder Aluminium oder beidem, ergibt, trenn es unter gleichen Bedingungen wie bei dem metallurgisch dem Magnesium nahestelienden Aluminium ausgeführt wird, bisweilen gute, meist aber sehr schlechte Ergebnisse; bei .der Erzeugung von Blechen tritt nämlich meist ein Zerbrechen des Materials ungefähr parallel zur Walzenachse ein bzw. ein allgemeines Rissigwerden.Process for rolling magnesium alloys of the electron metal type. Versuche haben ergeben, daß für das Walzen von Magnesiumlegierungen obengenannter Art mehr als für irgendein anderes Metall erforderlich ist, auf genaue Einhaltung der Walztemperatur zu sehen. Insbesondere hat sich gezeigt, daß eine gute Verwaltung, vom Barren bis zum dünnen Blech, voraussetzt, daß das Walzgut in Wärmeöfen auf 22o bis 25o° völlig durchwärmt wird und wiederholt, je nach .der Stärke des Walzbleches nach einer gewissen Anzahl von Stichen, wieder in den Wärmeofen gebracht wird. Die Temperatur des Wärmeofens hält man praktisch, um die Durchwärmung und die notwendige Rekristallisation des 'Metalls zu beschleunigen, auf einer wesentlich höheren Temperatur, etwa um 4oo°. Das etwas überhitzte Walzgut läßt man dann an der Luft abkühlen; mit Hilfe eines akustischen Verfahrens ermittelt man darauf den Eintritt des richtigen Walztemperaturbereichs. Dieses Verfahren beruht darauf, daß :der Klang der zubeißen Stücke beim Aufschlagen auf den Walztisch zunächst »hölzern« ist, bei Erreichung der richtigen Walztemperatur aber metallisch wird.Tests have shown that for the rolling of magnesium alloys of the above type more than is required for any other metal, in an exact manner Observance of the rolling temperature can be seen.
