In neuerer Zeit hat man vielfach anstatt der unzuverlässigen Darmsaiten an Violinen, Gitarren und Lauten die Stahlsaite benutzt; diese hat jedoch einen unangenehm harten und spitzen Ton.Musical instrument with steel strings.
