Description
Process for smelting materials containing precious metals. It has already been proposed (cf. French Patent 361346, Savigny) to smelt sulidic or oxidic antimony ores containing gold in such a way that the ore is given up in suitable comminution in a shaft furnace in layers, alternating with coke and then melted. The antimony is volatilized and escapes as oxide with the gout gases. The gold content of the ores remains in the resulting slag and, after the slag has been completely crushed, it should be used for gold extraction by any known method. The fact that the noble metal is diluted by a large mass of slag is a great disadvantage of this process, which makes it very difficult to make the noble metal very difficult and makes large losses inevitable.
The new invention has now created a method which enables eclelmetall-, especially gold-containing antimony ores, under complete To smelt the volatilization of the antimony in oxide form in such a way as to constantly release the slag Pulled off practically metal-free and: the precious metal, especially gold, in concentrated form Form is included in a scrap metal, from which it then becomes easier Lets win wisely.
But not only antimony ores can be subjected to this one process, but all ores which contain a volatile metal in addition to precious metal, such as z. B. arsenic, zinc and lead ores tt. rlgl.
The new process should now be closer to the example of antimony ores to be discribed. The ore is [in a shaft furnace that is used as a crucible furnace melted down with the addition of the necessary fuel and other supplements. The furnace cycle is guided in such a way that a slag is melted at its melting temperature above the volatilization temperature of the antimony oxide. Under these circumstances the antimony of the ore is completely volatilized as antimony oxide and escapes with, the furnace gases from the furnace. It can be in the usual. Receiving devices be won. The optic varnish, which contains 0.2 to 0.3 percent antimony and is free of precious metal (gold '), is' constantly tapped and goes to the dump. at due to the high melt temperature of the sack, there is a substantial reduction in the in iron compounds present in the charge to pig iron. In which iron collects the vast majority of the gold. Through appropriate fiili.run, the process a very strong enrichment of the gold can be achieved.
If the ore does not contain enough iron compounds, appropriate ones are made Surcharges are given. Instead of or in addition to iron, you can also use other metals, in particular copper, use it as a gold collector and this with appropriate surcharges the feed.
Gold-containing copper is directly for sale as such. Takes if iron is a gold collector, the gold can be obtained by dissolving the iron, or you give it in a lead oven as a welcome bid and win the gold through the well-known forcing process. You can also do one gold-bearing Melt iron-copper alloy, e.g. B. aüs noble metal leading'en containing copper Gravel burns, and this iron-copper alloy for cementing copper solutions use.
The smelting of ores with other volatile metals, e.g. B. lead ores, takes place in a corresponding manner - of course, taking their proper account of them Peculiarity instead of.
