Description

Vorrichtung zur Bemessung der Zeilenausschließung. Die Erfindung betrifft Setzmaschinen derjenigen Art, bei welcher durch den Setzer zunächst ein Papierstreifen mit Symbolen der einzelnen Schriftzeichen, vorzugsweise Lochungen, versehen wird, der dann durch die eigentliche Setzmaschine läuft und sie derart steuert, daß sie in der Reihenfolge des Satzes die Lettern einzeln gießt und zu druckfertig ausgeschlossenen Zeilen zusammenstellt. Bei bekannten Maschinen dieser Art, bei welchen die Matrizen in Schachbrettform in einem Rahmen vereinigt sind, ist die Anordnung getroffen, daß beispielsweise in den Kolumnen des Maternrahmens Lettern von je gleicher Kegelweite zusammengestellt sind, so daß die Auswahl der betreffenden Kolumne gleichzeitig die Bestimmung einer gewissen Kegelweite enthält. Dabei hat sich die Schwierigkeit ergeben, daß die Spatien entweder zu groß ausfallen, wenn man sie gleich den schmalsten Lettern annimmt, oder eine ganz eigene Kolumne für sich verlangen würden, wenn man ihnen ihre richtige Weite anweist. Da in der Gießmaschine die Spatien ohnehin anders behandelt werden müssen als die Lettern, weil ihre Weite veränderlich sein muß, um die vorgeschriebene Zeilenlänge zu erhalten, ist der Ausweg gewählt worden, daß die Vorrichtung, welche in der Gießmaschine die Kegelweiten bestimmt, im Fall eine Spatie vom Registerstreifen angezeigt wird, die Kegelweite um zwei Einheiten kleiner bemißt, unabhängig von der Stellung der Spatienmatrize im Matemrahmen. Die Einrichtung beruht auf folgender Erwägung. Der Vorschub des Zählwerks, der jedem Tastenanschlag oder der Letternweite des durch den Tastenanschlag bezeichneten Schriftzeichens entspricht, wird dadurch abgemessen, daß ein durch einen beständig unter Druckluft stehenden Zylinder getriebenes Zahnrad, das Einheitenrad, durch den Tastenanschlag freigegeben, und daß gleichzeitig eine längsbeweglich geführte Zahnstange, die Einheitenzahnstange, damit zum Eingriff gebracht wird. In den Weg der Zahnstange tritt ein der betreffenden Taste zugeordneter Anschlag ein, so daß ihr Hub und damit der Hub des Einheitenrades bestimmt begrenzt ist. Nach dem Loslassen der Taste und vor dem Anschlagen einer folgenden Taste wird die Einheitenzahnstange durch eine Feder wieder in ihre Nullstellung zurückgezogen. Die Länge ihres Hubes und damit die Länge der Fortschaltung des Zählwerks wird also nicht allein durch die von den Tasten regierten Meßanschläge bestimmt, sondern auch von der Lage der Nullstellung, von der die Einheitenzahnstange bei jedem Hube ausgeht.
