Claims (1)

In the case of electric arc welding with metal electrodes, the disadvantage has become shown that the arc breaks easily bsim welding, and that then at the for New formation of the arc required contact of the workpiece with the electrode? In The latter caking occurs so that they cannot be torn off at all or only with force can, which makes a sensitive, even ίο exercise of the procedure very difficult or makes impossible. According to the invention, this drawback is avoided in that between Welding electrode and workpiece apart from the one used for welding, the arc The low-voltage current that forms a high-voltage alternating or pulsating direct current flows, which is caused by ionization between the workpiece and the electrode A layer of air prevents the arc from breaking off or, if it really is, breaking off has taken place, the new arc formation without contact between the workpiece and electrode. This procedure also facilitates the use of carbon electrodes the formation of a constant arc. The high-voltage current can either be used during the entire welding process flow or only, and expediently automatically, when the welding arc breaks be evoked. In order not to endanger the workers, it is recommended that To use high voltage currents of high frequency so that they can be endured by humans without harm. The high voltage currents can be generated in any way and supplied to the work station by means of the known overlay and coupling methods will. The schematic drawing shows an embodiment of the method according to the invention again, in which the expediently used anyway to calm the arc Choke coil is used for coupling. α ist die den Lichtbogenstrom liefernde α is the one that supplies the arc current Stromquelle, z. Power source, e.g. B. a dynamo, b the welding electrode, c the workpiece, d is the said choke and at the same time the secondary coil of a transformer, in which the high-voltage current serving to fulfill the purpose of the invention is induced by the alternating or pulsating current flowing in the primary coil. The line g with the capacitor e is used to close the high-voltage circuit, as this current, due to its high frequency, only passes through the dynamo machine, which has a high level of self-induction, to a small extent. Instead of the capacitor, you can also use a resistor that is as free of self-induction as possible, e.g. B. use an incandescent lamp. The inducing coil f has a so-called partial current flowing through it, which is generated by the spark inductor i, the capacitor k and the spark gap I. The primary coil of the spark inductor is fed by the current source m. The arrangement described causes the high-voltage current to flow continuously between the electrode and the workpiece. If the high-voltage current is to flow only during the interruption of the welding current, the relay r is attached between m and i , which then closes the primary circuit of the inductor in a known manner.
