Description

Flap sword for sailboats. The subject of the main patent forms a flap sword, in which the sword halves are raised by a wedge brought and in the subscript by a block that extends over the edges of the flap being held. The execution forming the subject of the present additional patent is now that the sword halves falling down by their own weight through a wedge is pressed into the lower position and secured in this position, while a special winch device is provided for raising the flaps is.

In the drawing, the arrangement in the cross section of the boat is schematic shown in Fig. z to 3 in three different positions; Fig.4 is a top view on the sword flaps lying next to each other.

As in the embodiment according to the main patent, the sword consists of two flaps c and d, which are movably hinged to the dead keel b located on the ship's bottom a. Each flap has one or more upwardly directed and laterally protruding tabs m, n, which form an angle with one another in the lower position of the sword. A wedge p is pressed into this angle formed by the tabs m and n, whereby the tabs are pressed apart, but the flaps themselves are pressed against each other. With a correspondingly strong pressure of the wedge p, the flaps c and d are not only held in the low position, but they are permanently secured in the closed position and act like a permanently installed keel. However, in order to prevent water from penetrating between the two flaps at the front, one flap c is slightly shorter than the other flap d and its front edge lies behind the correspondingly widened front attachment r of flap d (Fig. 4.). This hides the front joint between the two flaps.

A winch device is arranged to raise the flaps, whose ropes attack the straps ei and n. After pulling up the wedge p will be Flaps swiveled up so far with the help of the winch that they are against Lay the ship's bottom a or against the bilge keels specially provided there. In this position, they again provide effective protection against the bottom of the ship Damage when touching down or hitting the ground.
