Abstract

A computer loads various digital quick access memories, the contents of which are fed together into a computer-controlled picture multiplexer. The land picture memory used has perpicture point a word length of eight bits. Six bits are used for coding a grey value of the actual picture point, i.e. its brightness, and the two remaining bits provide four addresses with which individual part surfaces of the land picture are marked. With these addresses, a transformation table is addressed which contains four words with a length of e.g. 16 bits., with which the distances of the various part surfaces of the land picture are accurately coded. To obviate conflicts with several targets and closely adjacent sight obstacles, the coding of the land picture points with two additional bits is essential.
