Abstract

1. Air intake housing part of a burner housing for an oil, gas or two-fuel burner, particularly a large burner, having an air inlet, an air connecting opening associated with the axial entry area of the fan wheel, the plane of opening thereof extending substantially at right angles to that of the air inlet, and a sound absorber which is constructed in the housing section opposite the air inlet, characterized in that the air connecting opening (12) is centrally aligned with the axial entry area of the fan wheel, the sound absorber (15) has a core (25) of sound-absorbing material which has acoustic sides (21, 22) facing both the air inlet in the form of an opening (11) and also the air connecting opening (12), whilst the surfaces thereof located beyond the acoustic sides are provided with a covering (27) of plastics composition of greater specific weight than the core material, this covering abutting on and firmly adhering to the adjacent inner surfaces of the housing part (7), the core (25) being introduced into the enclosed area thereof by foaming.
