Abstract

1. Weft thread picking device in weaving machines, with supply bobbins arranged in stationary manner and with a gripper shuttle equipped with gripper tongs, two or more mutually independent weft threads which come from the supply bobbins and are tied in the web being guided in weft thread holding devices arranged in the region of the selvedge, these holding devices being guidable in individually controllable manner from a position of rest into a transfer position and guiding the respective weft thread to be tied-in into a transfer position from which it is guidable by means of a presenting element into a transfer position to the gripper shuttle in which latter position it can be gripped by the gripper tongs of the shuttle, characterised in that the presenting element (5) transferring the weft thread (3) from the weft thread holding device (1) to the gripper shuttle (12) is constructed as a guide element (6) which is adapted to be moved upwards and downwards and which in its lower region comprises a cutting edge (7) directed towards the weft thread holding device (1).
