Fallschirm. Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 23. Oktober 1918 ab. Parachute. Patented in the German Empire on October 23, 1918.
Es ist bereits vorgeschlagen worden, dieIt has already been suggested that
To regulate the falling speed of the parachute that an outlet opening is arranged in the parachute cover, which can be opened and closed as required.
Hierdurch wird erreicht, daß der Insasse mit seinem Fallschirm durch zeitweise Beschleunigung der Abwärtsbewegung sich den in der Luft drohenden Gefahren zu entziehen vermag, die insbesondere hervorgerufen werdenThis ensures that the occupant with his parachute through temporary acceleration the downward movement is able to evade the dangers threatening in the air, which are caused in particular
durch das Nachstürzen des brennenden Ballons, Luftschiffes oder Flugzeuges und fernerhin durch Angriff feindlicher Flieger.by the falling of the burning balloon, airship or airplane and further on by attack by enemy airmen.
The opening of such a passage cross-section has hitherto been carried out using a .hand operated cord pull; from this it follows that it is only a proportional one can act small to be released cross-section, so that a substantial ίο acceleration of the parachute once unfolded can hardly be achieved. In addition, with the known devices of this type there is a risk that the released Opening with accelerated downward movement and the resulting increase in the Air pressure no longer closes or at least does not close at the desired moment.
Abb. 2 in geschlossenem Zustande,These disadvantages are eliminated according to the invention in that the occupant is suspended at the normal falling speed on a cable that keeps the opening or openings of the parachute cover closed, The subject of the invention is illustrated in one embodiment in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the parachute in the open state.
Fig. 2 in the closed state,
Fig. 3 is a section through a part.
In the middle part of the parachute a relatively large opening 0 is provided, which is kept closed for the normal falling speed. In the embodiment shown, this is achieved in that the hose-like substance attachment 5 surrounding the opening 0 is folded inwards as shown in FIG. 2 and is held in this position. The holding takes place through the pulling action of the lines Z, which unite in the rope Z x .
As Fig. 3 shows, the rope Z x is guided through the bore B of a pulley T , on the circumference of which the discharge lines α of the parachute are attached by means of loops. At the upper end of the bore B , a strong knot K is formed in the rope Z x in order to prevent the rope from sliding through the bore. The occupant is suspended from the rope that continues below the disk Γ. The rope Z 1 is therefore usually the carrier of the occupant.
*If the opening 0 of the parachute is to be released, then the occupant grabs the handles H or other holding devices provided on the window T with his hands and pulls himself up a little. As a result, the train caused so far on the SeUZ 1 ceases and the air pressure acting below the parachute causes the attachment 5 to fold up into the position of Fig. 1, so that the opening O is released. *
As soon as the occupant completely or partially releases the handles H , the original pulling effect on the rope Z 1 occurs again, whereby the opening O is closed again. It is up to the occupant to relieve the rope to a greater or lesser extent by transferring his or her weight to the handles more or less and thus to open the opening O in whole or in part.
