Statt dessen kann man auch derart verfahren, daß man das Naphthol in der Wärme in konzentrierter Natronlauge löst und allmählich Formaldehyd in die Alkali-Naphthol-Lösung einträgt, wobei dafür gesorgt wird, daß die Reaktion nicht zu stürmisch verläuft. Im allgemeinen genügen auf zoo kg Naphthol etwa 5o bis 7o kg 3oprozentiger Formaldehyd.
