Es wird durch diese Ausführung der Spanten einesteils ein geringer Materialverbrauch erzielt, andernteils dem Spantenmaterial bei etwaigem Stoß die Möglichkeit der Federung gegeben, was die Benutzungsdauer der Spanten erhöht und eine größere Sicherheit gegen Bruch bietet, als bei Verwendung von Spanten aus massivem oder verleimtem Holz.
