Die Hypochlorite wurden von jeher allgemein als Desinfektionsmittel benutzt; infolge ihrer Zersetzlichkeit und ihrer ätzenden Wirkung konnten jedoch die gebräuchlichen Alkali- und Kalkhypochlorite in der ärztlichen Praxis nicht zur Desinfektion von Wunden oder Körperflächen zugezogen werden.Process for the preparation of a gel-like antiseptic. Verschiedene, insbesondere mit Eiterbakterien angestellte Versuche ergaben, daß eine nach dem neuen Verfahren dargestellte Salbe mit 6 Prozent aktivem Chlor noch in 3oofacher Verdünnung innerhalb io Minuten die Bakterien tötet, obwohl Bakterien der gleichen Art während derselben Zeit von 3 prozentigem Sublimat nicht vernichtet wurden. Das neue Verfahren kann z. B, wie folgt ausgeführt werden: Man vermengt 85 9 Magnesia usta mit 6oo g Wasser und leitet in die Masse unter Rühren und Kühlen 6o g Chlor, vermischt sodann die entstandene Lösung mit 50 9 Magnesia usta. Die Menge der der Lösung zugesetzten Magnesia usta ist entsprechend ihrer Qualität in gewissen Grenzen Änderungenunterworfen. DieMassenimmtnacheinigen Tagen Salbenkonsistenz an.
