Description
Horizontal water wheel with rotating blades. With the current conditional Utilizing all available mechanical labor, it is of great advantage if the small hydropower that has so far been largely unused without great expense and construction work can be made practically usable.
The invention relates to a - horizontal waterwheel that flows in each Body of water, be it a stream or river, fully exploits the thrust of the water, with a special hydraulic engineering such. B. bank construction, weir construction, turbine chamber or the like. or great incline is unnecessary, as is the case with the general utilization of labor of falling water is common. The new water wheel can be placed anywhere be placed in running water and find the same different application, z. B. it can be used to drive small pump systems, irrigation of meadows and drainage, sprinkler systems, for driving circular saws, for extraction of light and power for individual courtyards, etc. The wheel also uses the power at the outflow from ponds and small lakes. Essentially, the water wheel consists of one any number of blades, of which two can always rotate in such a way that they form an obtuse or acute angle to one another. The thrust of the Water will always place the blades at an obtuse angle; this will achieved a large contact surface for the water and must therefore eirre = rotary movement of the wheel take place. The draining water places the other blades at an acute angle and the blades offer little resistance.
The accompanying drawings illustrate two embodiments of the invention, namely: Fig. z shows a cross section of the water wheel, Fig a plan view, Fig.3 is a plan view of another embodiment of a Water wheel, Fig. Q., 5 schematically represent several water wheels in plan view in Course of the river.
Three concentric rings in a, b, c are firmly connected to each other and with an axis f by spokes d and there is a ring b and c on each side of the smallest ring or tube a. At the bottom the wheel is provided with a bottom d 'made of sheet metal and other material. The two middle rings b carry blades g, li rotatable in pairs about axes i, of which the blades g rest against stops l of the rings c and the blades h can touch the smallest ring a. Depending on the direction of flow of the water, the wings g-, h form an obtuse or acute angle to one another. The axis f of the horizontal waterwheel expediently has a pulley m together with a belt x and is rotatable in a bearing o in the river bed.
The horizontal water wheel, Fig. 3, is of the same construction, only with the difference from the first embodiment; that the outer blades g are connected to one another by spiral springs p and the stop struts L have spiral springs q in order to achieve a resilient support for the blades. In addition, one half of the water wheel is provided with a sheet metal jacket to protect the water to bring to the shovels in a taut form.
The wheels can be single or multiple with channels s, Fig. G, in the water a. Convenient for slow flowing waters are one larger number of shovels provided than for fast flowing waters6r.
The water flowing into the horizontal Was.gerrad in the direction of arrow I, Fig, z, pushes the blades against stops L and ring a, whereby the impact force of the water is fully exploited, at the same time the underwater wheel moves in the direction of arrow II The blades g, h moving the flow are turned to an acute angle by the water and therefore offer very little resistance to the flow.
The jacket r leads the water in a similar form from the inlet ic to the outlet v and then the blades g - lie on the spiral springs q and the blades h on the inner ring a- in the jacket, while after leaving the: 'jacket the blades form an acute angle due to the springs p.
