Description
Process for producing an artificial fuel by pressing and subsequent coking of finely ground, carbonaceous raw material. the The invention relates to a method for producing artificial fuel, which is achieved in that the carbonaceous raw material first through Pressing is briquetted and then coked; the obtained coke then becomes one subjected to extremely fine grinding, which is so fine that the powder obtained only through a sieve of zoo meshes to 6.4 square cm (= one English square inch) passes through.
It is already known to finely crush raw coal-like fuel, then to briquette and coke. However, it became the degree of grinding never taken so far as to result in a change in physical properties of the individual grains of the fuel could be achieved. This change in the physical conditions consists essentially in a reduction in the water content of coal as a result of the significant. Friction and the resulting heat, which is communicated to the material during grinding. At the same time it covers itself with one such fine grinding of each grain with an infinitely thin layer of bitumen. If such a finely ground coal is turned into briquettes, it ignites the latter settle faster than lump charcoal and burn off in a way which of those of charcoal is almost exactly the same, insofar as the combustion also progresses, even if the conditions for air entry are less favorable; also holds the combustion goes on longer than with the coal in pieces. Likewise, if such a thing Briquette is coked, the coke obtained has a denser structure and a finer structure show and have the same properties when burning as the uncoked product, so that it is particularly favorable for burning on the grate in the first place. Are briquettes made from such finely ground coal, i. H. from a Coal, which is an even degree extreme. Possesses delicacy so that they still passes through a 6.4 square cm (_-_ one square inch) zoo mesh sieve, thus such a briquette, even if made without any binding agent, will -secure essential when burning ordinary lump charcoal in the manner indicated above so that it burns as perfectly as charcoal.
In practicing the invention, when using coking coal brings the raw material into a very finely divided state, and this Finely powdered raw material is placed on it for the purpose of producing a solid block after a special method pressed in which the pressing in a hydraulic or another press like that is executed that the block itself able to expand laterally under the stresses occurring during its generation.
The blocks produced in this way are then placed in a coke oven suitable retouches of distillation; subjugated, and the destiüatitin becomes run at a higher temperature and for as long as it takes to achieve the desired type Product is required, d. H. at a temperature between qoo and i2oo ° C. The distillation can be stopped at a suitable stage in order to achieve the coke to be produced to retain the desired amount of volatile substances.
In the production of a fuel using anthracite and coal, the anthracite is first roasted and, after the raw material thus roasted has been brought into the finely divided state specified above by grinding, bituminous coal, coke or the like is added to the same depending on the type of the desired end product. added. It has been found that by roasting the anthracite beforehand it is possible to use a much larger amount of anthracite to produce a dense and uniform fuel than when using the raw anthracite. For example, when using 30 percent roasted anthracite and 70 percent short-flame coal by coking the press block made from the mixture at low temperature, e.g. B. 5oo ° C, an excellent @ product achieved.
Of course, some sort of bituminous or semi-bituminous can be used Coal mixed with anthracite or coke can be used.
