Process for the preparation of p-nitrophenylurea chloride. In the patent 318237, addendum to the patent 241822, a process for the preparation of the p- nitroplienylurstoffehloiids is described, which consists in that that p -nitraniline is treated with phosgene until the disappearance of the hydrochloric acid amine at temperatures which below the conversion temperature of the p -nitrophenylurstoffchlorids lie in the corresponding isocyanate. It has now been found that the preparation of p-nitrophenylurea chloride can also be carried out if p-nitroaniline is treated with phosgene in an appropriate manner in inert agents at temperatures which are considerably above the conversion temperature which has become known for the dry p-nitrophenylurea chloride. It has been found to be expedient for the convenient preparation of a pure preparation to first introduce part or all of the phosgene into the inert medium and then to add the amine.
N = 13, 9 Prozent Cl = 17,28 Prozent Cl -:17,7 Prozent II.
im Beispiel I getrocknet. Gefunden: N = 13,98 Prozent Cl.
Examples: 1. 12 parts of phosgene are introduced into 100 parts of nitrobenzene at ordinary temperature. For this purpose, a paste of 14 parts of p-nitroaniline and 40 parts of nitrobenzene is added, rinsed with a little nitrobenzene and stirred. If the hydrochloric acid development soon entering has subsided, is a short time heated to about 4o 0, after he sucked cold #, washed with carbon tetrachloride and dry vacuum at ordinary temperature dried Found Calculated for C7 Hr, 03 N, Cl N = 13 , 89 percent N = 13, 9 percent Cl = 17.28 percent Cl -: 17.7 percent II. Ij parts of phosgene are introduced into 20 parts of benzene, whereupon a paste of 2 "8 parts of p-nitroaniline in 6 parts of benzene is added is. After about two hours of stirring at ordinary temperature, the internal temperature is under simultaneous introduction of phosgene to 5o to 6o 'accommodated, strong hydrochloric acid development occurs, the internal temperature can be harmless a * strength hours to about 70.' be increased. After conversion into p - Nitrophenylurea chloride, which usually occurs when a small excess of phosgene is used, the cooled reaction product is sucked off, pressed and washed with petroleum ether n and dried as in example I. Found: N = 13.98 percent Cl. = i6, gi percent The procedure is the same if carbon tetrachloride or indifferent media are used instead of benzene.
